GENERAL DESCRIPTION & APPLICATIONS |
||
Pentaerythritol Tetranitrate for industrial application is used in explosives. Transportation of pure or dried PETN is is not allowed as it is a highly sensitive explosive. PETN for pharmaceuticals is diluted to prevent accidental explosions and for safe handling and transportation with lactose or mannitol. PETN has similar properties to nitroglycerin but with a more prolonged duration of action. They act as a dilator of arterial and venous smooth muscle and is used in the treatment of angina. |
